Why Pacheco and why now?

Over the past three years, I've spoken with many of you. Time and again, I've heard how our calls, letters, and emails to elected officials are ignored, while louder, better-funded voices push through changes without our input or notice. We deserve transparency and responsiveness from our politicians, and we deserve a seat at the table. Our voices matter, and they must be heard.

While our current assembly member supports a billionaire’s plot to seize 50 acres of public parkland for a casino, enslaving our community to destructive vices. It's concerning that someone claiming to support District 34 fails to defend our parks. Could it be because one of her consultants, Will Sweeny, is on the casino payroll?

If you choose me, I pledge to be transparent in my actions and responsive to your concerns. I'll also demand similar transparency and responsiveness from City-funded or partnered organizations in our district. Getting results for you is my priority."

  • Safety

Ensuring safety is a fundamental right for all individuals, encompassing personal safety, home security, and protection for businesses. I am committed to addressing the issue of random street crimes, safeguarding our businesses, and enhancing safety measures on public transit. My experiences, particularly as a former NYPD officer, have instilled in me the importance of proactive measures to tackle crime effectively.

  • Education

Access to quality education should not be determined by one's zip code or background, including immigration status. Having navigated the educational system as an immigrant, I understand firsthand the transformative power of education. It is imperative to equip all students with the necessary resources and opportunities for success, regardless of their circumstances.

  • Seniors & Disabled

Advocating for the rights and well-being of seniors and individuals with disabilities has been a consistent priority for me. Whether it involves ensuring access to essential services, advocating for equal protection, or improving mass transit accessibility, I am dedicated to upholding the rights of our senior and disabled communities.

  • Small Businesses

as someone who owned and operated a small business here in Jackson Heights on 37th Avenue, I know the demands and the pressures associated with owning a small business. Our small businesses are the lifeblood of any community. We need to work together, and support our small businesses so we can continue to have the amazing diversity we currently have in our district.

  • 34th Avenue Open Streets

While I am often misrepresented as "anti-Open Streets," this characterization is inaccurate. I believe in the potential benefits of initiatives like Open Streets but also acknowledge the legitimate concerns raised by residents. It is imperative to foster dialogue and incorporate community input to address issues and implement necessary changes to improve the program's effectiveness and inclusivity.

  • LGBTQIA+ Youth & Seniors

As an openly gay Latino individual, I have actively supported LGBTQIA+ youth and seniors, advocating for their inclusion and well-being. No individual, regardless of age, should experience marginalization or isolation. I am committed to fostering an environment where LGBTQIA+ individuals feel valued, respected, and supported at every stage of life.
